"I Knew I Was a Rebel Then" by Horde of Two

Horde of Two’s I Knew I was a Rebel Then features a six-song CD and an accompanying chapbook, which includes two intertwined stories on the nature of triumph, defeat and legacy.

The CD’s centrepiece is a 22-minute song based on the life of Buenaventura Durruti, who died fighting fascism in Spain. Although he failed in the short-term, his ideals and struggle for a better world based on freedom and equality are just as relevant today.

He symbolizes the people who, despite heroic effort, may not succeed but whose influence lives on through their example and those who are guided by their principles.

But our piece is not meant to glorify one person; our project honours everyone who fights oppression.
